Tickets & Fares

Transit is an inexpensive way to get around Asheville and the surrounding area. Public transportation also helps cut down on global pollutants.Bus riders can pay their fare with cash, tickets or pre-paid passes. Please remember, all cash fares must be exact change. Vehicle operators cannot make change. All fare boxes can accept $1 bills.

Ticket books, monthly passes, and the latest maps and schedule information are available at the Asheville Transit Center, located at 49 Coxe Ave., next to the U.S. Post Office and just steps away from most downtown locations. Monthly passes and annual passes are available at the Asheville Transit offices, located at 360 West Haywood St.

Student (grades 1-12): Ticket booklets of 10 tickets for $5
Children (ages 5 and under): Ride free with an accompanying adult
Senior Citizen Fare: Eligible for riders age 65 and over
Handicapped Fare: Riders must have a Medicare card or an Asheville Transit Reduced Rate Card. Call 253-5691 for details on how to obtain this card
Transfers: Transfers are free and require a paper transfer slip from the driver

PassPort Program
Asheville Transit PassPort Program Now Available! Employees of participating businesses and organizations ride by showing their ID (no cash fare), while the employer pays a reduced rate through Asheville's Transit's PassPort Program. No fumbling for change or having to buy a pass every month. Ask your employer about it!
